Apparently, it’s really hard for people to be thankful.
Thanksgiving brought on a wave of daily things for people to be thankful for, and some people actually thought it was annoying. It’s no wonder that only once a year people discuss their thankfulness. Because those who really are thankful for everything have been made to feel like they are a nuisance for their gratitude.
I, for one am very thankful. I am so thankful for everything I experience in life. And I’m thankful to know that I should appreciate it all.
I know what it’s like to be right (which I love), and I know what it’s like to be wrong (not my favorite thing).
I know what it’s like to be so sick that you can’t sit up. And I know what it’s like to never want to stop.
I know what it’s like to be in love and I know what it’s like to be lovesick from its affects.
I know what it’s like to be happy, just like I know what it’s like to be sad.
So yes. When someone says let’s participate in naming all the things we’re thankful for, I’m all in.
Yes, everyday I am going to be thankful, and you are more than welcome to be annoyed by it.
I have a great life. A great God. A great family. Great opportunities. And only a fool in my position would not be thankful everyday. And it’s amazing that God is just at the beginning of His work in me.
I am thankful.
That won’t change.
Isaiah 12:4 (NLT)
In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
My praise to God is my thankfulness.
That annoys you?
Okay.
You think it’s foolish to praise God everyday through thanks?
1 Corinthians 1:27 (NLT)
Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.
I can’t not be thankful.
It’s God command that I be thankful.
I will enter His courts with praise.
And if that’s what annoys you about me, I can’t help but think I’m doing pretty good…
