To my shame, I had forgotten my identity. I’m not talking about who I am physically. I’m talking about who I really am. I forgot I was an heiress.
It’s easy to forget somehow, that I’m an heiress. I’m not just any heiress either. I’m an heiress to heavenly riches. No economic decline, no recession or depression can change that. Yet, I forgot.
Romans 8:15-17 (NLT)
So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God’s very own children, adopted into his family–calling him “Father, dear Father.” For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we will share his treasures–for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
In my prayers, I had been coming to God like I was begging Him for something. I begged as if that was going to make my request louder. It was as if I thought He would get to me sooner or something.
It’s sad to think that I felt so down and out that I thought I needed to beg my Heavenly Father for something. Let it be known, God will not give us anything just because we begged Him for it. He’s going to give something because He loves you. And thankfully, His love won’t allow Him to give anything that’s not His best for you.
Are you begging for what’s already yours?
