I had my students write Thanksgiving poems so I figured I’d write a couple too. Stay tuned.
Thanksgiving is fun.
Because I love food.
When I’m all done
I’m in a great mood.
I eat turkey and ham
And lots of dessert.
Overeating is my plan
Until my belly hurts.
With a belly full
It’s time for my Thanksgiving nap.
In a couple of hours I’ll be grabbing my tools
A fork and spoon and plate to unwrap.
It is my test
With leftovers in my sight.
To see if they’re really the best
Especially on Thanksgiving night.
A day to give thanks for all things
A day to reflect on my meal.
I look forward to what next year’s Thanksgiving brings
Only on that day will it be revealed.
