Thank You

To my shame, if there’s one thing I forget to be, it’s thankful. Now, I don’t take life for granted, but I think that in the hustle and bustle of life, I forget to stop and say, “Thank You, God.”

Americans are on the go. If we’re not going we feel unproductive. Sadly, we have associated activity with productivity. And unfortunately, in doing so, we get so caught up in stuff that we don’t pause and say thank you for this stuff.

Interestingly enough, when all the stuff gets too overwhelming, we wish it wasn’t there. The very things we asked for, we wish we didn’t have to deal with at times. And because that stuff doesn’t fit into our schedules, we see it as that. Just stuff.

But in the hustle and bustle, in the stuff, even the stuff we asked for, we must not forget to be thankful. Because God always makes a reason for us to be thankful available.

God answers prayer, even prayers for stuff. Sometimes, He answers prayers for stuff we didn’t need and stuff we did. God allowed some stuff we wanted and some stuff we didn’t even know we needed in our lives. So, in the midst of the hustle and bustle, in the midst of the stuff, we can’t forget to be thankful for the Provider. We can’t love the provisions and neglect the Provider.

Today, pause and say thank you. Because if there’s anything worse than having too much stuff, it’s having too much stuff and not being thankful for it all.

1 Chronicles 29:13 O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!
