Being young is one of the best times of life, and it’s also one of our dumbest times. When you’re young you live as if you’ll have forever and a day. Death is far from your mind, illness is irrelevant, and sleep is just something to do when there’s nothing else.
In our youth, we believe we can conquer anything and that we ourselves are unconquerable. Defeat cowers down to a zealous youth. Tomorrow never seems to die when you’re young. And to you, neither will you.
But death is very real. And young people die all the time. And God has known it and shown it to us all. God knows we die when He calls us. That’s why He calls us to Salvation right now. It’s that urgent. Not tomorrow, not later, but as soon as you realize you need to be saved. There is no thinking you might need this. You NEED this. It’s not some gaslight that comes on and makes you think you probably need to get gas soon. There is no sooner than the present moment. Salvation takes immediate action.
Salvation is the best and most important decision you can make. It’s the most immediate decision you can and will need to make. You don’t have to be “old enough” to get saved. The moment you realize you aren’t and need to be is the time.
Death is a fickle thing. We forget that part of living is dying. I always wondered would it be better to know someone was dying or for it to just happen… They both suck. But I can tell you what makes it not suck, knowing someone was saved and is spending eternity with Christ.
We have two choices when people die; we can either wallow in earth’s loss or rejoice in Heaven’s gain. Keep in mind, a person that has lived for God doesn’t care about dying.
2 Corinthians 6:2 (NLT)
2 For God says,
“At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.
