Weight of the World

I’m beginning to believe we use the phrase “the weight of the world” a little too loosely. Jesus literally had the weight of the world on His shoulders. We don’t.

Whatever we’re going through we’re going through for a reason. God has shown me that in order to be a comforter and encourager, you have to go through times when you need to be comforted and encouraged. In order for me to provide the need for comfort, I must have needed it at some point myself to be able to know how to properly give it.

It’s easy to be encouraging when you’re home all day. When I wasn’t working, it was easy to encourage those who were having a bad day because I wasn’t. And now, it’s a little harder to have the energy to encourage others when I need it myself, but it does make the ministry of encouragement even greater.

Jesus suffered. He went through temptation. He went through sacrifice. And because He did, He knows how to provide comfort for me when I go through the same.

Now, if Jesus had to do it, why shouldn’t I?

2 Corinthians 1:4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
