Two Types of People

There are two types of people. There are the ones who beg Jesus to stay or want to go with Him. And there are the ones who beg Him to leave.

Then those who had seen what happened told the others about the demon-possessed man and the pigs. And the crowd began pleading with Jesus to go away and leave them alone. As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon possessed begged to go with him. But Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.” So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them. Mark 5:16‭-‬20 NLT

Person 1: Verses 17 and 18 say that the crowds begged Jesus to leave. Jesus was messing with their money and their way of life. Jesus was getting a little too close, so what did they do? They pushed Him away. Many of us do that, when Jesus gets close enough to start changing some things in our lives we start to push back. We start thinking, well I hadn’t planned on giving You that part yet Lord… But we miss the fact that it’s those parts of us that need to be changed and that only Jesus has the power to change.

Person 2: Verse 18 says the one who Jesus delivered was begging to go with Him. When you know you’ve been changed by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ you don’t want to live in any way apart from Him. There’s not a person in the Bible that allowed Jesus to truly touch his life or situation and walked away wanting less of Him.

So I repeat, there are two types of people in this world. Those who beg Jesus to leave and those who beg Him to stay. Which person are you?
