Abigail woke up for school, got dressed, and brushed her teeth. She looked in the mirror and saw she had toothpaste on her face and left it. With toothpaste on her face she headed out the door to start her day.
You might be asking why would she do that? But the Bible says that’s what we do as Christians sometimes. When we read God’s Word, but don’t do what it says, it’s like leaving toothpaste on our faces.
As Christians we are to have integrity. Integrity is doing what’s right (God’s will) even when no one is looking. It’s doing what’s right even when no one else does. Integrity is knowing better and doing better.
As a Christian, have you been walking in integrity or have you been walking around with toothpaste on your face?
James 1:22-26
22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.
