God chooses the simple to do the surprising. Regular people in God’s will become revolutionary. Which account in the Bible could I be referencing with that? John 2:16-18
16 Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them, “Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!” 17 Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures: “Passion for God’s house will consume me.”(Psalm 69:9) 18 But the Jewish leaders demanded, “What are you doing? If God gave you authority to do this, show us a miraculous sign to prove it.”
These regular, simple disciples are remembering the Scriptures. These people are remembering the prophecies that spoke of Jesus. Yet, the Pharisees are Bible scholars. Their jobs are to study the Scriptures, to memorize them, to teach them, and they don’t recognize Jesus.
They don’t realize the Scriptures that point to Jesus. That He is the Word they’ve been studying and waiting for. Could there be anything worse?
Imagine this: for all of your life you’ve been waiting for the Savior to come. He’s here, and you don’t realize it. Today, people are still waiting for a Savior. Unfortunately, many are thinking he will be in the form of political reform (not different from back then), many think he’ll be rich, or they think he will support their cause whatever it may be.
The thing is, the Savior has come. And we have documentation of what happened the first time He came and people missed it. Do you really want to miss Him too? Jesus is still saving people today, don’t miss Him! If you do there will literally be Hell to pay.
