Repetition

I learned a lesson some years ago. The lesson was that when God repeats Himself pay close attention. First off, when God is speaking pay close attention anyway. But when He makes it a point to restate something, you had better not miss it.

Isaiah 41:10, 13 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

For I hold you by your right hand— I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.

That’s twice in a few verses that God says He is with Israel. In other words, “for the people in the back” God is with you. In case, you missed it the first time God is with you.

God was sending a message and He wanted it to be clear as possible. “I am with you. No matter what it looks like, no matter what it feels like, I’m with you.”

And while this was God’s promise to Israel, I believe it applies to all of God’s children. I believe it’s a beautiful depiction of God, still keeping promises and still promising to be with His children.

Thank You God. May we hear You and see You clearly. May we feel and understand what it means for You to be with us and that there is no greater comfort than that truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
