If You Want To

One of my favorite Bible stories is when the man with leprosy comes to Jesus and he simply says, “If you want to, you can heal me.” And Jesus says, “I want to.” And the man was healed.

I wonder though, how often we want Jesus to? How often do we let Jesus know that we know He can, if He wants to?

The issue is, we’re ball hogs when it comes to our lives. We don’t want to pass it to God because we believe we can handle the opposing team. And when we operate in that mindset, we don’t operate in “if you want to.”

Jesus so badly wants to. He so badly wants the ball in His court. Yet, we refuse to pass it. We refuse to let God do what He wants to do. God can change your financial situation, but you have to let Him. He can change what you’re dealing with, but you have to want Him to.

And you know what? God wants to. He really does. The real question is if you want Him to?

Mark 1:40-42 (NLT)

A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said.

Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed.
