I am an Heiress

Know who you are and who’s you are. Dr. Ronnie Williams says that a lot. He couldn’t be more right either. We have to not get caught up into who people say we are. And we can’t get involved in who people think we are. What people say and what people think isn’t half as important as what we believe about ourselves.

No one has to be what people think they should be. No one has to believe they are what people say. We all have the wonderful gift of choice. With that gift, we get to choose how to see ourselves. We get to choose how to be.

The issue today is that a lot of people became what people told them they were. People told them they were nothing and would be nothing, so in order to not “disappoint” them they disappointed themselves and became nothing. And it’s equally true for people who became only what they thought people wanted them to be.

I have to remind myself of who I am in Christ. I am not who people made me believe I was. I am not who I made myself to be. I am a child of God. I am an heir. I am an heir to Heavenly riches. Hallelujah!

Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
