People are sick… People are dying… Homes are falling apart…
I’ve thought about these things. I’ve put them out there to God (like He doesn’t know…). But what I feel like He’s saying is this: “am I good?”
We keep making the same mistake. God is not good because things go well. He’s good because He is. Goodness is only considered good because it is an attribute of Him.
God is good regardless of circumstances. Circumstances don’t have to be good in order for God to be good. In fact, it seems like we can see the goodness of God more when trials come.
God was good when Joseph was in prison. Wasn’t He? God was good when Daniel was in the lion’s den, wasn’t He?God was certainly good when His Son hung upon the cross.
Today, it’s OK to recognize what is happening. We’re in a tough reality right now. But don’t ever forget that God is good, and don’t make the mistake of associating circumstances to His goodness.
God is good because God is good. Period.
