I’m 26 now. Wow, I’m 26. And I’m at the point where it’s not as cute as it used to be to grow older. Be forewarned, I know how ridiculous this is going to sound. But I also know how funny it is going to sound so that’s why I’m sharing it.
I’m 26 now, and I’m in that phase where getting older isn’t all that cute anymore. Like it’s cool that you’re alive and all, but it’s not a cute phase. I would say 20 and under is when it’s cute to seem older, then after that it’s kinda…well… yeah.
You know, when I was 13 and people thought I was 14 it was cool. It was cool to seem more mature. When I was 20 and people thought I was 21 that was fine too. There was still the compliment of maturity present. But now. It’s a different compliment I guess you could say.
Before it was, “Oh you’re so mature for your age.” Now it’s, “You’re only 26…” Like seriously is that all you are? Just 26. “You seem much older.” And then when the word older seems to offensive, people opt to choose wiser.
Truth be told, my age has never really bothered me. It’s just an observation I’ve made recently about humanity. It’s so interesting that the very thing that used to make us happy can invoke an emotion other than happiness now. And it can be something as simple as age.
I will say this, getting older really is only no fun when you’re not getting wiser. So whether it’s the best of times or the worst of times, make the most of times.
