Writing Activity

Write a poem in the voice of Sylvia Plath on antidepressants.

When I’m down, I feel bound.

I need a pick me up, before I decide to give up.

Maybe just one, that might get the job done.

Maybe two or three, that should make me free.

Once they’re in, depression doesn’t win.

I’m better right now, sadness left somehow.

One pop of a pill, no longer is sadness all I feel.

I haven’t read Sylvia Plath since college, so obviously I struggled to remember her exact style. I do know she battled with depression, so I just did the best I could at randomly writing a poem about it.
