Psalm 92:4-5 You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. O Lord, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts.
Thrill: to cause someone to have a sudden feeling of excitement and pleasure.
I read this this morning. It’s good for us to pause and dwell on this question. What all has God done for me? Seriously, what ALL has He done for you? Right now, you can easily name 10-20 things. Let’s do it.
I’m awake.
He gave me a mind to read and write.
Your internet is working.
You’re breathing.
You can pray to Him right now.
He saved you because He loves you.
You have food.
I have a great job. (personalize)
God has given me creativity to write. (personalize)
God has given me new mercies on this day and the next. (personalize)
I could go on, but then you may not, so finish that list. Now, find a song and sing for joy because of all that is on that list and then some. It would take an eternity to thank God for all of the blessings He has given us. For some of us, we’ll thankfully have the opportunity to do that.
God is great and worthy to be praised. He is especially worthy to be thanked as well. Let’s thank Him today. There’s a lot going on in the world, yes. But that’s all the more reason we need to focus on the joy of the Lord!
Let’s be excited about God! By the way, what song did you choose?
