Immovable – not able to be moved.
It’s pretty unique to be known for being immovable after a long day’s work, but Rosa Parks is. Little do most people know, Rosa Parks was more than just a lady who didn’t give up her seat.
Mrs. Parks was a civil rights activist before she was arrested for not giving up her bus seat. Contrary to popular belief, she was not tired physically, as she has stated in her autobiography. However, what she was tired of was the injustice she faced every day. This one seemingly small act of civil disobedience gave rise to the Montgomery Bus Boycott led by Martin Luther King, Jr.
Rosa Parks reminds me that when I’m faced with opposition, it’s sometimes necessary to be immovable. Sometimes when we are immovable by standing for what we believe in, it creates a movement of its own.
I would like to be remembered as a person who wanted to be free… so other people would be also free. – Rosa Parks
