Proverbs 31: The Helpful Wife-Needing Husband Complex (Superman or Clark Kent)

Proverbs 31: 11-12 Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She will not hinder him but help him all her life.

If the Proverbs 31 woman helps and does not hinder her husband then that means he has to be a man that needs help. He has to know and accept the fact that he needs help. He must be recognizing and acknowledging of its necessity for his own well-being.

And instead of being a woman that complains that her husband can’t get it right, she’s happy that he gets it. She’s happy that he knows he has to be a man that needs her in his life. God has to bring them together so that where he lacks and needs help, she so easily can make up for it.

She has to understand that she has to be needed in some way by her husband. It isn’t that he is completely incapable, but it’s that God has created him with that little something “missing” in order for her to be the only one able to fill it.

Proverbs 31 is so beautiful. God is so wonderful. A lot of times we (women) look at this passage and see a laundry list of who we think we are supposed to be, and who we believe we can never become. But read it. Really read it. Because once you do you begin to see what a Proverbs man is supposed to be like as well. He doesn’t do it all. He’s not Superman. Nor does he try to be because he knows that he has a wife that makes him super.

Instead of looking for our Superman, sometimes we need to just hold out for Clark Kent. He trusts her and knows that he needs her help to be his best. And in return, she enriches his life. She is needed, and he makes sure she knows it.
