No It’s Mine

John 6:8-9 (NLT)

Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”

The Bible says that we are to be like children. I get it. As I read about Jesus feeding the five thousand, it’s been important to remember that it was a boy who had food.

Instead of him saying, “No it’s mine. I want it. Everyone else should have brought themselves something,” he gave. As a child, he gave. He gave what he had. And because of his willingness to give, Jesus fed over five thousand men, women, and children.

We have to get over the “no it’s all mine” mentality. If that child had that mentality, Jesus would have still been able to do what He did, but that young boy wouldn’t have been included in that miracle.

It makes me wonder about my life. I can’t help but wonder how many ways God was trying to bless not only me, but others, but I was too busy focusing on what was mine and not theirs, when it all was God’s anyway?
