National Poetry Day

Well, it’s National Poetry Day

And although I don’t really have much to say.

I’ll partake in the tradition

I’ll join in on the celebration.

It’s good to write

To get your ideas in sight

And poetry is one of the best ways

To say all you want on some days.

Rhyme if you want

And if not, don’t.

Follow whatever formula you like

And if you don’t, well that’s alright.

It’s your masterpiece

So enjoy it piece by piece.

Say what you need to say

In your own way.

It’s National Poetry Day

So I celebrated this way.

And who knows what I’ll do next year

Just as long as I do it with cheer.
