Mocked

When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified.

Matthew 27:31 NLT

This gets me. It’s so easy to just read. And I don’t necessarily mean that it’s easy but it’s easier to treat it as a sad story rather than truth.

Sometimes we can read this and not pause and dwell on what’s really happening. Why this is really happening.

Where I have to pause is when it says they mocked him until they were tired of mocking Him. It wasn’t like someone said we should have more respect. No one spoke up and said this isn’t right. No one stopped because Jesus was innocent. They mocked Him until they were just tired of doing. They mocked Him until it became boring.

We’re hurt if someone corrects us when we’re wrong. Jesus was mocked and abused for all of our wrongs. And He obeyed God to the fullest.

There will never be another Savior. Jesus was powerful, but humble. The one and only perfect sacrifice. And the One and Only God in flesh. No other god is true, and certainly none would give its life for its followers.

But my God would and He did.
