You know, maybe I’m not that good a writer. I mean, I don’t have millions of blog followers, my book isn’t a New York Times best-seller, I’m not winning writing contests. Maybe I’m not that good a writer, maybe I just like writing. Perhaps I’ve just convinced myself I’m good because I like writing so much. Or maybe not.
Every now and then we allow doubts to come into our minds. We allow ourselves to believe we aren’t good at things because other people don’t jump right on it or because other people don’t make us feel like we’re good at it.
But truth be told, that has nothing to do with it. I’m a good writer because I write what God allows me to. I’m a good writer because I write what God shares with me. I’m a good writer because when God says take this idea, write about it, and post it, it is done. That’s what makes me a good writer.
If I have a million followers that’s not going to be what is going to make me a good writer. If my book becomes a best-seller that’s not going to make me a good writer, even though that is my dream. Even if I win every writing contest I enter in, that’s not what’s going to make me a good writer.
The best writer I’ll ever be is the one that says OK God, I’m writing what you tell me to. Period.
