Filthy Rags

When we really think about God’s sacrifice, and our benefit of it, He really gets “short-changed.” Actually, when you hardly think about it, God really gets “short-changed.” Yet, He doesn’t see it that way. He doesn’t see His sacrifice as useless or pointless. He doesn’t see it as losing out on something. He sees it as gain.

We are worth nothing. And even when we become something, it’s only because God makes us something. Do you really get that? In order for God’s sacrifice to and for us to be as worthwhile as possible, God has to be in us.

My goodness is but a filthy rag in God’s presence. At my best, that ‘s what my good deeds are, filthy rags. And God still sacrificed for me, knowing I could only amount to so much or so little rather.

Thank You that You sacrificed so much to only receive so little from me.

Isaiah 64:6 We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.
