Black American History

I consider  black history American history, because it is. But for the sake of how I’ve grown up and realizing that a lot children don’t know about this part of American history, I figured I would dedicate February to black history blogs.

Let’s face it, we could actually use a little more knowledge of all history, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Indian, etc. History is important to our present. It was unfortunate that maybe two students I had last year knew who Martin Luther King, Jr. was. He has a holiday for crying out loud!

Anyway, in order to do more than just vent about what children or people don’t know anymore I want to share some historic figures this month and point out traits that I find inspirational from their lives. I hope you enjoy them, and feel free to let me know what comes to mind when you hear these names. Here go.
