The struggle is real. It’s really real.
The struggle at work. The struggle of maintaining healthy relationships. There is a constant struggle in and with everything in life. And it really is a lot harder than we believe it is.
It shouldn’t be that hard to work and be good at your job. It really shouldn’t be that hard to maintain healthy relationships. But it is. The struggle is just as real as that job or that relationship is.
And it’s unfortunate. It’s unfortunate that the natural things in life are difficult for us. I don’t want to think about how difficult my work is sometimes. I don’t want to think about how hard it is to maintain that friendship or that relationship. But the struggle makes me have to.
It also makes me wonder though. What if there were no struggle? Although the struggle is unfortunate, it does make whatever it is worthwhile, right? My job better be worthwhile if I’m willing to beat the struggle for it. That friendship must be important if I’m willing to beat the struggle it is to maintain it.
I really do think Frederick Douglass said it best, “If there is no struggle there is no progress.”
