Here’s a snippet of something I’m working on in my class:
It is not everyday
That we appreciate the lives that had to pay.
For the rights that we have today
To walk in a room with different people and stay.
We don’t often think
Of the price paid to drink.
Or wash in the same sink
And not even have to blink.
So today we appreciate
All those who fought hate.
All those who had to wait
So we could experience something great.
