Well, I’m three years in now. But I still don’t feel like I have the right to discuss marriage heavily. Lord, if I’m wrong for feeling that way, help me to hear You and be led by You to have heavy discussions if its Your plan.
Marriage is work, like a lot of it. But marriage is fun. I hate that there’s this idea that marriage isn’t fun, just like there’s this idea that being a Christian isn’t fun. Yet again, what a great tactic of Satan to get us to think that healthy relationships and choices aren’t fun or cool.
Godly marriage is fun. Anything outside of that I can’t speak for. But I know that godly marriage is fun and good. We have difficulties, just like anyone else. But to know that God is for your marriage makes all the difference. Just like being a Christian (which is necessary to have a godly marriage).
People think being a Christian is boring. There’s this rumor that life is boring because its not filled with a busy nightlife, alcohol, and sex. Instead, its to be filled with love, servanthood, understanding, intimacy with God, peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And who would want that, right?
Marriage done right, done God’s way, works His way. Marriage has obstacles, because people are really really different. I don’t understand all that my husband does and vice versa. But there is something really really special about being able to spend an entire lifetime, learning how to understand. There’s something amazing about having one person who knows everything.
God blessed marriage. God blessed the support system that marriage is meant to be. When a godly man makes a godly woman his wife, God does something amazing. When people are Christians in their marriage, its just different. Godly marriage is fun. We’re not perfect, but God in our marriage, is. That is what makes all the difference.
