Distribution

Jesus keeps giving. That’s all I could think about while reading this passage. Jesus feeding the 5,000 is very well known. It’s of course phenomenal because everything Jesus does is. But for the first time I read this passage and verse 16 stood out to me.

Luke 9:16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people.

It said Jesus kept giving the bread and fish to his disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He kept giving. He kept providing. Jesus today still gives, He still provides. It’s what He does, what He has always done and been capable of.

Jesus took a little and made a lot. That’s just how holy math works. But Jesus also gave for it to be distributed. We’re blessed to be a blessing right? Our prayers are or should be that we would be blessed to bless others. So what if the problem for us today is that as we get, we’re not giving? What if what we need, we haven’t received because we wouldn’t be willing to give help or meet a need once we have ours met?

What if we have a little bit that God wants to make a lot of, but our grip is too strong to let it be distributed?
