2015 – Bring It On

Happy 2015 everyone! I hope everyone is as excited about what God has in store as I am. Let’s face it, He has something for each one of us. That’s worth being excited about.

There are so many wonderful things to look forward to. I am currently planning my own “comeback” story as we speak. A couple of days before the New Year I ruptured my ACL. There’s a part of me that thinks I can mope around about it, but what’s the point?

I can already feel God dealing with me in a special way. Why mope about my knee when I can get excited about how God is going to use this injury to glorify Him?

On the subject of my knee, I have a few points I must share.

First off, I am completely grateful that God is gracious and merciful. My knee had actually been bothering me for a couple of months. I knew something wasn’t right and God kept telling me something wasn’t. My response? God, I’ll get around to it soon.

I am so glad that in the lesson of obedience, I only ruptured my ACL. Do you know what happened to people in the Bible when they were disobedient? Exactly.

Secondly, God is still teaching me the difference in just being obedient and having immediate obedience. Yeah, the first one is good, but it doesn’t show God how urgent you are to do His will. I have found out that when I am in a hurry to do God’s will, I get more than just the blessing of doing it. It’s like I get a bonus for my determination to do what I already should do anyway.

This New Year I am looking forward to a whole lot less of myself, and a whole bunch more of God. With a knee surgery coming up, what greater opportunity do I have to spend time with God?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from being immobile in life it’s that you have the greatest opportunity to spend time with God like never before. And if you’ve been too busy to spend time with Him, He will see to it that you give Him His time. Isn’t that crazy? God has to get us to spend time with Him when we should be going out of our way to spend it with Him anyway!

When I think about the fact that God could have struck me dead in my disobedience, I am more than happy to deal with a bum knee. And if any of what has already occurred is any indication of what this year has in store, I am ready! Let the lessons begin. Let the lessons be learned. And let the obedience be immediate!
